Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 8, 2026
Recall is a personal memory helper for reminders, notes, lists, medications, bills, birthdays, belongings, documents, how-to guides and family medical information. This policy explains what happens to the information you put into it.
The short version
- Your information belongs to you and stays with you. It is kept on your iPhone and in your own iCloud account.
- We do not collect your information. We have no servers. We can't see, read or access anything you keep in Recall.
- No ads, no tracking, no analytics, and nothing is sold.
Where your information is kept
On your device. Everything you add to Recall is stored on your iPhone or iPad.
In your iCloud account. If you're signed in to iCloud, Recall uses Apple's iCloud to back up your information and keep it the same on all your devices. It is stored in your private iCloud database, which only your Apple Account can access. We can't access it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Sharing you choose
Recall only shares when you ask it to:
- Shared lists and family Medical Info. When you share a checklist or Medical Info with someone, Apple's iCloud sharing gives that person access to what you shared. You can stop sharing at any time.
- Caregiver access. If you link a caregiver, the person you invite can see and help manage your Recall information. You can remove their access at any time.
- Copies you send. If you send a list, note, PDF or copy to someone, it goes through the method you pick (Messages, Mail and so on).
Voice, speech and Ask Recall
- Speech recognition. When you speak to Recall, Apple's speech recognition turns your voice into text. Depending on your device and settings, this may happen on your iPhone or be processed by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Ask Recall (Apple Intelligence). Ask Recall uses Apple's Foundation Models, either on your device or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute. Apple designed Private Cloud Compute so that your information is used only to answer your request and is not stored or made accessible to Apple. We don't receive your questions or answers.
- Ask Recall Log. Recall keeps a list of your recent Ask Recall questions on your iPhone only, so you can see what it did. You can clear it in App Settings. It's only sent if you choose to share it.
Photos, camera, microphone, calendar and alarms
Recall asks permission before using your camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, calendar, alarms or Face ID. Each is used only for the feature you're using, such as scanning a document, recording a voice memo, or sounding an alarm. Photos and recordings you save are kept with your other Recall information, on your device and in your iCloud.
Health and medical information
Recall stores the medications, allergies, conditions, doctors and insurance details you enter, for your own reference. Recall isn't a medical device and doesn't give medical advice. It doesn't use Apple Health (HealthKit).
Children
Recall isn't directed at children under 13. Parents may record their children's information, such as allergies or doctors, in Medical Info.
Deleting your information
Deleting an item moves it to Recently Deleted, where it's kept for a short time and then removed. Deleting the app removes the information on that device. To remove the iCloud copy, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → Recall and delete the data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top. Recall will never start collecting your information without saying so clearly first.
